PROJECT CONTEXT
This project was conducted entirely remotely due to COVID-19 regulations and I worked in a team with 2 other designers over Zoom from concept to delivery. The inspiration for this project was to design a convenient banking system with COVID in mind. Creating something that was touchless, quick, and easy to access for all people was the ideal solution in order to reduce contact between people and minimize the amount of time spent at ATM machines. The ATM industry is estimated to have a value of 20 billion USD and is expected to continually grow. Implementing this design would significantly increase the efficiency and usage of ATM machines for users of online banking.
Project Overview
Duration: 2 Months (April-May 2021)
Team Members: Kate Jennings, Tetiana Nickira King
Role: Lead Designer
Tools: Figma, Invision, Google Forms
MY ROLE
I led the research and development for this project by ideating research questions, interviewing people, and analyzing data
PROBLEM SUMMARY
What if using an ATM machine could be a great experience? We could revolutionize the cash machine experience through radical simplicity and contemporary design principles.
SOLUTION SUMMARY
Featuring facial recognition technology, the Ally Bank ATM system simplifies the ATM experience by streamlining the process into a cardless transaction. With quick cash withdrawal and deposits, banking can take less than 2 minutes.
USER RESEARCH SUMMARY
We surveyed users aged 15-60 about their banking habits, experiences with ATMs, and tech savviness in order to gather insights on how our users are interacting with cash machines.
Key Research Questions:
How often do you have your debit/credit cards with you?
What does your typical ATM experience look like?
What features do you find most important in an ATM?
AFFINITY MAP
Interview responses were organized into an affinity map in order to draw key insights and patterns
Key Insights:
Cash withdrawal is the most common usage of ATMs
People do not visit ATMs often or spend much time when using them
Not many ATMs have a cardless option
USER PERSONA
